On 27th March 2024 Richard Hudson was selected to be the York Central Parliamentary Candidate for the General Election, expected later this year.
Richard, who is a businessman, lives in Great Ayton and has pledged to campaign so hard that we will be ‘sick of the sight of him’ by the time the election comes.
With York Conservatives saying that 'this is exactly the kind of candidate we were looking for to raise the Conservative profile in York Central and support Julian’s campaign in York Outer.'
Richard joined the Conservative Party in 2011 and was elected a councillor for Hambleton District Council, which he served on until its dissolution in 2023. He has contested several elections, including in 2017 where he fought a Liberal Democrat held-seat and reduced their majority to just ten votes. This, required tremendous drive and provided him with excellent experience in campaign management whilst demonstrating his resilience throughout a vexatious campaign.
The Chairman, Charlotte Milligan said that she would like to welcome Richard to the team and that she knew his presence will give the campaign a real boost and I she is very pleased that he has been selected.
Richard has said that he will be unrelenting in showing the people of York Central that he is the right choice to be their MP, holding Labour to account at each and every turn.
